At O.M.Gee Events, our favorite thing is getting to know each couple’s story, and helping you create a wedding that feels true to you. Whether you’re newly engaged or knee-deep in planning
, we wanted to share a few takeaways from The Knot’s latest report that might give you some peace of mind (and maybe even some inspiration).
You're Not Alone! Weddings Take Time
On average, couples spend about 15 months planning their weddings, so if you’re feeling like it’s a long process; you’re right where you’re supposed to be. And with nearly 90% of wedding planning happening online, it’s no surprise that your phone is your new best friend. From Pinterest boards to venue searches to vendor emails, you're doing the work, and we see you!
Let’s Talk Budget (Because Everyone Else Is Too)
Weddings are a big investment, and you’re not alone if you're surprised by the numbers. The average wedding costs around $33,000, and in the Mid-Atlantic region (hey, Philly and beyond!), couples are spending closer to $46,000. If you're planning a destination celebration, that number might look more like $39,000.
It can feel overwhelming, but you're not expected to do it alone. Having a planner on your side helps you stay within budget and still bring your vision to life.
Guest Lists Are Personal and Generational!
Wondering how many people to invite? Most weddings average around 116 guests, but there’s no “right” number. Gen Z couples are throwing bigger celebrations with around 131 guests, while Gen X is keeping things intimate at 88. Whatever feels meaningful to you is the right answer.
Just keep in mind: more guests = higher costs, with the average cost per guest landing at about $284. But again, there are creative ways to make every dollar count.
What Matters Most to Couples Like You
According to the report, most couples care deeply about three things:
Making sure your guests have a great time
Staying within your budget
Ensuring your wedding feels uniquely yours
We love this, because it reflects what we see every day. You want your wedding to feel personal and not just pretty. You want your people to feel taken care of, and you want to actually enjoy your day, not stress through it. That's exactly where we come in. The Vibe in 2025: What’s Trending Now
If you're into trends, here are a few things couples are loving right now:
First looks (cue the happy tears!)
Personalized wedding websites to keep guests in the loop
All gender wedding parties (because why not mix it up?)
And couples are getting creative with unexpected ceremony locations!
None of these are must-dos, but they’re fun reminders that weddings don’t have to follow one formula. You get to make the rules.
A Final Thought
Most couples (82%, in fact) book their venue first, so if you’re feeling stuck, that’s a great place to start. Once you have your space, everything else starts to fall into place; including choosing a planning team that gets your vision.
Whether you’re dreaming of an October wedding (still the most popular month!), planning a weekend celebration with 150 guests, or keeping it cozy with just a few close friends…we’re here to help you create something unforgettable.
